TENTH HOUSE COMPLETED!

Habitat for Humanity of Benton, Fountain, and Warren Counties dedicated its tenth house in the tri-county area on Sunday afternoon, November 1, 2009. The Attica Free Methodist Church hosted the House Blessing event, after which refreshments and tours of the house nearby were provided.

Ben Bowles, Construction Manager, and Rita Lanum, Volunteer Coordinator, both spoke to the assembly about the variety of individuals and area businesses who have come together in Christian witness by sharing their time, treasure, and talent in the construction of this house. Chauncey and Nancy Taylor, Family Advocates, introduced the Watkins family and presented them with a new Bible. Donald Watkins thanked everyone for all of the work and support and for the chance for his family to have a new home. Rev. Jerry Badgley of the Free Methodist Church provided prayer, and the church band lead the gathering in song.

Habitat for Humanity utilizes donations of labor and materials to construct and/or rehabilitate homes for selected partner families who might not otherwise be able to purchase a home. Each homeowner family is required to complete Sweat Equity hours, working on their own home as well as other community activities. Homes are sold to partner families with a low-cost, no-interest mortgage.
